Huntington Ingalls Selects Colliers International to Market Their Avondale Facility
Current owners believe that finding new ownership could give the 206 acre facility renewed purpose and bring jobs to the New Orleans area
Colliers International has been exclusively selected by Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) to market their Avondale facility, located just outside New Orleans. The Colliers International brokerage team, led by David Pinsel, Bill Buntyn and Hagood Morrison will partner with local broker Gerard Henry of Max Derbes, Inc. to represent HII in the disposition of the property.
The Avondale facility consists of 206 acres that includes more than 7,900 feet of prime riverfront access along the West bank of the Mississippi River. It also provides users deep water access with minimal dredging. Incrementally developed since 1938, the facility is designed for light and heavy manufacturing, which most recently included the construction of U.S. Navy ships. Though manufacturing operations ceased in late 2014, a maintenance crew has remained onsite to maintain the integrity of the facility and its assets.
Colliers International aims to attract a buyer who can rebuild the employment base and aid the local economy. Regional industry expert Gerard Henry was chosen as part of this team because of his local expertise, stellar reputation and vast network of connections in both the private and public sector.
“Colliers International is honored to work with Huntington Ingalls Industries on this iconic project,” says Colliers Regional Managing Director David Pinsel, “We are aware of its significance to both the local and state economies and we look forward to achieving a positive outcome for our client, the future owner and the citizens of Jefferson Parish.”
