Karen Whitt Named 2015 IREM REME Award Finalist

NEW YORK, NY (Sept. 15, 2015) Colliers International Group Inc. (Nasdaq:CIGI) (TSX:CIG) is pleased to announce that Karen Whitt, President of U.S. Investor & Real Estate Management Services, has been recognized as a REME Awards Program finalist. Supported by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®), the REME Awards Program honors professionals

Through her dedicated real estate management service, Karen has been honored as a CPM® of the Year Finalist for her outstanding performance in the industry. With more than 20 years’ experience in property management across the U.S., Karen heads Colliers’ Real Estate Management Services (a 345 million sq. ft. portfolio) and is responsible for ensuring professional, client-based management in all of Colliers’ markets. Her role also includes oversight of Colliers’ Investor Services platform, which focuses on strategically connecting Colliers’ Retail, Industrial, Office and Multifamily, brokerage investment sales, and property management groups with investor clients. 

The REME Awards are unique recognitions of professional achievement in property management because they honor companies and professionals who advance their profession and deliver exceptional service and value. The program celebrates excellence in real estate management through:

  • Recognizing real estate management companies and individual practitioners for innovative, leading-edge, business practices and initiatives 
  • Sharing successful initiatives and fostering innovation within the real estate management industry 
  • Recognizing companies and individuals of all asset classes—commercial and residential—and of any size, whether local, regional, national, or international 

Finalists will be recognized and winners announced at the Inaugural Gala Dinner and REME Awards event in Salt Lake City, UT, on October 23, 2015, as part of the IREM® Executive Edge educational conference.

Currently an At-Large Member of the IREM Executive Committee, Karen became an IREM® Member in 1992 and holds a Certified Property Manager® designation. She is affiliated with IREM’s Greater Metropolitan Washington Chapter No. 8 and is a past chapter president, being honored with the chapter’s “CPM® of the Year” award in 2000. At the national level, Karen has served IREM as a regional vice president. 

In addition to her IREM® affiliation, Karen is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the Real Estate Group. She has been a member of BOMA’s National Advisory Council, the National Association of Realtors’ Commercial Firm Advisory Board, and serves on the Executive Committee and Chair of the Career Advisory Board for the Virginia Tech Program in Real Estate.
